Our coaches strongly believe in a collaborative approach to provide the best experience and opportunities for all ESSC members. All of our coaches are registered Skate Canada professionals and are happy to welcome new skaters to our programs.
Learn-To-Skate Coordinator
Julia Chua |
Julia has been an NCCP coach since 2019 and has up to her Regional coach status. She has received her Quad Gold (Freeskate, Interpretive, Skill, & Dance) & competed up to Junior Ladies within the 17 years she was a competitive single skater. She is in her final year of her undergrad, completing a BA in Political Science.

Synchronized Skating Coaches

Star 4 Marie is a Regional certified coach and has been coaching since 2020. She joined our coaching team in 2022 and has over 15 years of synchro experience while continuing to skate recreationally. Marie is a graduate student pursuing a Master's of Public Health |
Alyssa Sherwin |
Star 6 Alyssa is a NCCP Provincial trained coach. With over 25 years of experience in synchronized skating, Alyssa has competed at the local, national and international levels. For the past 10 years, Alyssa has been a member of our coaching team, most often with our Juvenile and Pre-Novice teams. Off the ice Alyssa works as a Physcical Therapist at the Grey Nuns Hospital, having received her degree from the University of Alberta. |
Chelsea Wong |
Star 8 Chelsea is a Regional certified coach, and a quad gold skater. She has been coaching for over 8 years, and is excited to be working with Star 8 this season. Chelseas spend two seasons skating with NEXXICE Senior, where she had the honour of representing Canada and winning two bronze medals at the 2022 World Synchronized Skating Championships. Outside of the rink, Chelseas is a medical student at the university of Alberta, and a passionate foodie |
Courtney Mielnichuk |
Gold & Adult 1 Courtney is a Provincial Trained NCCP coach and has been a part of ESSC's coaching team since 2018. She now has over twenty years of synchro experience and has represented Alberta and ESSC at both the Intermediate and Open levels. Courtney is extremely dedicated to synchronized skating and is invested in the development and success of our skaters and teams. Outside of the arena, she is working towards completing her PhD in Astroparticle Physics at the University of Alberta and an after degree in Secondary Education. |
